“Our work is not about moments, but about what remains when time moves on.”

Hi,
We are Sally and William.
Sombra Nexus did not begin as a clear idea. It emerged gradually, through years of looking, working, and learning how to stay with moments long enough for them to reveal what they hold.
Sally studied journalism at Boston University, where she learned to observe before interpreting, to let facts and images speak without urgency. She is drawn to stillness and to the way a single photograph can contain a quiet accumulation of meaning. William earned his MFA in Photo, Video and Related Media, from the School of Visual Arts. He is attentive to motion, to duration, to the way light changes when given time. His work leans toward the cinematic, toward sequences rather than isolated frames. Together, these approaches shape a practice grounded in patience and attention.
When we work with individuals and families, we do not rush toward moments of expression. We allow them to arrive. We witness the early closeness between newborns and siblings, the unselfconscious presence of children, the mixture of confidence and uncertainty that marks graduation. We are present during proposals shaped by hesitation and resolve, during moments of surprise that lead to tears, during vows spoken with restraint rather than spectacle. We document family gatherings, birthdays, personal performances, and relationships that deepen not through display, but through time and repetition.
What interests us is not the moment itself, but what surrounds it.
The before, the after, and the weight carried quietly within it.
Our work with businesses follows the same discipline. We understand organizations as collections of people, habits, and decisions, shaped slowly over time. Through photography and film, we give form to identity and intention, allowing them to appear without exaggeration. Whether documenting an event, creating portraits, or presenting a product, we begin by listening carefully and working with precision.
Professionalism, for us, is a form of respect. We enter each space with intention, bringing structure, lighting, and focus to the work at hand. Through composition and timing, we reflect not only what a company produces, but how it exists in the world. Our role is to create a visual continuity between an organization and the people who encounter it.
We believe images do not simply preserve time.
They hold what time leaves behind.
Whether you are marking a personal passage or shaping a public presence, we approach each project with restraint, clarity, and care.
